Founded in 1990, SeedSpider has become the leading seed metering company in the world.
In the US for example we are proud to have achieved a nearly 80% market share in key crops.
Through years of collaboration with growers it became apparent that weeding was one of their most challenging activities. So in 2018 we started innovating, working on a robot that would use modern computing technology including artificial intelligence coupled with unique mechanical approaches to deliver a solution that would be productive (effective and fast), light weight, flexible, continuously evolving, and stylish (yep, we wanted it to turn heads).

Forward thinking
Our first iteration was a self propelled, autonomous robot which could be driven by an operator using a simple console, but it missed the mark. As we engaged with innovative and experienced growers, they expressed a preference for a tractor mounted solution. So, we redesigned it.

Re-invention
Our first tractor mounted robot was adopted by Rancho Laguna in May 2024. We’ve been so fortunate to have an early adopter that took an unproven and ‘quite different’ machine into the field day after day which has allowed us to work on continuous improvements.

Continuous Improvement
Since that first day we’ve added all sorts of improvements and innovations, adding an optional hydraulic generator, upgrading to more powerful 3D arm motors, refining cutting blade designs, iterating all aspects of the machine, and all the while collecting more and more data to refine our machine learning models.

Acres per hour
With our three toolbars, we can reach speeds of up to 4 acres per hour, but typically average 2.8 acres per hour.

The WeedSpider success story
We’re delighted to now have what we believe is the most effective mechanical weeding solution on the market. And we’re not done there.
We firmly believe that through partnering with our customers we’ll keep innovating to deliver solutions that provide real value, and change the face of agriculture forever. We’re already working on some new innovations, which may surprise many but are sure to delight most.
